Living Hope

August 6th, 2017

Rande Greene

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused
us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an
inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s
power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

– 1 Peter 1:3-5

Tough-Minded and Tender-Hearted

Jesus knew he would be betrayed and forsaken yet he was not bitter and hardened by it. He was
tender hearted. One must be tough-minded to be tender-hearted in a world of betrayal.

Our Lord’s Return

July 23rd, 2017

Rande Greene

“For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an
archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we
who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the
air, and so we will always be with the Lord.”
– 1 Thess 4:16-17

The answer for the beleaguered Thessalonian church is this, “Jesus is coming back. Jesus himself
will return. We will see him. We will be with him forever, for eternity.”

Full of Joy

July 9th, 2017

Rande Greene

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”

– John 15:9-11

Freedom in Practice

July 2nd, 2017

Rande Greene

Freedom is a spiritual matter. Christian freedom is centered upon deliverance by the power of the risen Christ. What Christ has done is appropriated by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Freedom is available to anyone who comes to Christ in faith. When we come to a place of saving faith in Jesus we are declared free from sin and Satan’s power.

Seek the Lord While He May Be Found

June 25th, 2017

Rande Greene

“Seek the Lord” or “seek His face” is a Biblical phrase and also a spiritual principle. What does it mean to seek His face? To seek His face means to seek to be in the presence of the Lord. ‘Being in the presence of the Lord’ means being in the manifest presence of the Lord. That means knowing beyond any doubt that you are experiencing God, that you are being impacted by His nearness. Every Christian should desire to experience the manifest presence of God so every Christian should spend time seeking His face.

Father’s Day 2017

“Hear, my son, your father’s instruction…”
– Proverbs 1:8

A father has incredible potential for good or bad. It is because of the influence a father can wield in the lives of his children. Fathers have great responsibility to use the influence we have been given to the glory of God and to the benefit of those we influence especially our children and grandchildren.

Idolatry, Money, Sex, and Power 6

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
– Proverbs 3:5-6

Jesus’ prayer in the Garden included “not my will but thine be done”. That was letting go of power, autonomy and self-will. How do we expect to follow Jesus while demanding our own way; how are we following Jesus while practicing stubborn resistance to anything that doesn’t fixate on our desires.

Love as a More Perfect Way 3

June 4th, 2017

Rande Greene

As Christ-followers, we should love Jesus with a consuming love. It is right to be mesmerized and fascinated with Jesus Christ. Only as we are ravenously smitten with Jesus will we live the way a Christian can. If anything or anyone, including ourselves, becomes more important than Jesus, we have gloriously failed, no matter what we have or accomplish in our lives. To fail to love Jesus is a complete failure.

Idolatry, Money, Sex, and Power 5

May 28th, 2017

Rande Greene

“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
– Phil 4:11-13

The expression of trust in Christ here is the picture of security and wholeness. “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” is absolute trust in God. It is trust in God that frees us from needing to be in control. We can endure hardship and comfort both; whatever the circumstance we are trusting in Christ and can live in contentment.
